What should we do to improve safety for workers in Ethiopia? That is the question posed to Expat Preventive by a Netherlands-based headquarters of an international association. Security advisor William van Heerden will soon travel to Ethiopia to make concrete safety recommendations.
I am going to Ethiopia to improve safety and security for the staff of one of our clients.
What is happening in Ethiopia?
It is a country in which working is relatively easy, but you have to know the specific political and societal context. The security situation has unfortunately deteriorated in a number of areas. It is a good thing for organizations to reconsider their security policy.
What exactly are you going to do?
First of all, I am going to look at the security situation on the spot. Then, I will delve into the safety and security procedures of the local office and examine them in light of the current situation. What needs to change? What could be improved? I will also look at the education needs of staff and management, in order to give them a training which is tailor-made.
